Sophie the stegosaurus

The snow in Sheffield made my back yard look less hideous, so I decided today was the day to photograph Sophie! Inspired by the new stegosaurus at the Natural History Museum, I decided to design another dinosaur nursery quilt over Christmas when I was visiting my parents.

The real-life Sophie is the most complete stegosaurus in the world (so far), and is pretty impressively displayed in the Earth hall in the NHM. She’s a bit smaller than expected, but they think she might be a teenage dinosaur. I’ll put a link here to an interesting video of the reconstruction work

Goodness knows what I’ll do with all these small quilts! They’re just much less intimidating to start making than a large one. Plus a life-size reconstruction is a bit beyond my creative capacity right now… though thats quite a fun idea – maybe sometime!
